DMTS' advanced program offers the work of Janet Travell, M.D. and David Simons, M.D. Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy (MTPT) and is recognized by the American Academy of Pain Management as an effective treatment of myofascial pain and dysfunction.
Along with the 650-hour program, DMTS offers an additional 250 hours to include the work of Dr. Janet Travell. In this segment, the student will continue to develop specific skills to work with pain and injury. The the additional 250-Hour segment offers a different type of bodywork compared to the 650-Hour Orthopedic Program. The 900-Hour Program views the person to be treated as a patient rather than a client and the assessment becomes a specific and defined treatment plan.
Dr. Travell worked in the White House as President Kennedy's personal physician. She is coined as creating her own branch of medicine in treating trigger point therapy. Terms 4 and 5 will provide the techniques for treatment of myofascial pain. The Trigger Point Manuals will be extensively used in class to grasp the well-supported and carefully reasoned assertions. Be assured that the conditions you will learn about are the biggest cause of disability and time away from work. With additional credentialing in evaluation and treatment of patients, insurance companies or managed care are looking for that additional training beyond the standards.
