The Kansas Massage Institute
The Kansas Massage Institute was opened by June M. Jones in January of 1996, at our current location. June has been in the field of Massage since 1977 and recognized the need for legitimate educational opportunities for persons interested in this field. June’s goal, as well as the school’s goal, is to provide ethical, professional education in the field of Massage.
The school has been licensed by the Kansas State Board of Regents as a Proprietary school since 1996. When the school first opened, we offered a 500-hour program for Massage Therapy. In 1998 we upgraded our program from 500-hours to 650-hours so that we could cover educational requirements that vary in Kansas, to cover requirements for the National Certification Exam, and to provide students with the best applicable knowledge regarding the field of Massage.
Our Mission
The purpose of the Kansas Massage Institute is to provide a program of professional training to become ethical competent Massage Practitioners / Therapists.
The institute’s instructors are recognized (certified, licensed, registered, and/or a degree) and experienced in their respective fields. These instructors strive to train professional practitioners who can be successful in this growing profession, and they also work with each student to provide the opportunity for personal growth. This training provides graduates with the necessary competencies for employment opportunities in the field of Massage.
The curriculum is designed for two purposes:
*Classes are designed to enhance each student’s techniques to provide individualize and specialized client care.
*To help the student to become a Certified Massage Therapist.
The curriculum teaches the practical application of diverse massage techniques, and through this training students will be empowered to develop competencies in many massage modalities.
