1,000-HOUR CLINICAL MASSAGE THERAPY FOR HEALTH CARE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

This massage therapy program has the same coursework of the 600-Hour Program, but with one major addition, a 400 hour specialization in clinical massage therapy for health care.

Massage therapists frequently work in health care facilities. The professional world of health care requires specific training for the skilled application of massage therapy to manage dysfunctional conditions, acute and chronic sports injuries, and promote rehabilitation. A higher level of education prepares the massage professional to work effectively with the physician, chiropractor, physical and occupational therapist, coach and athletic trainer, or other health professionals in the health care setting.

Massage therapists maintain, rehabilitate, relieve or prevent pain and physical dysfunction, and enhance the wellbeing of the patient or client. Movement is used to rehabilitate, elongate muscles to normal resting length, and strengthen the affected area.

Opportunities exist for the licensed therapist to work independently in her or his own office or work with other heath care professionals in a medical, chiropractic, hospital, wellness center, sports massage, or other setting. These professionals will consult and supervise an overall treatment program in which massage therapy is an important part of treatment.

Methods include assessment of soft tissue and joints, as well as treatment of soft tissue by massage therapy, hydrotherapy, and movement therapies.

This program prepares you for a professional advanced-level health care career as a massage therapist.

All classes will include lecture, demonstration, discussion, and hands on experience in therapeutic massage technique to concentrate on the actual learning process.
